When I decided to take my minimalist travel lifestyle full time, I had to downsize my makeup. I didn’t want to be carrying around multiple bags of makeup for all different occasions. I downsized my minimalist travel makeup collection down to one little travel bag, and just a few products. My makeup collection had to fit into my 28 liter backpack along with everything else I own. This is everything in my minimalist travel makeup collection.
Minimalist Travel Makeup
I like to keep my makeup simple with just a few skin makeup products. I use Jane Iredale’s Glow Time BB Cream (I use the color BB7) to smooth out my skin and cover up any red spots or acne scars. This product is vegan, cruelty-free, and has lots of good stuff for your skin. It doesn’t clog your pores and best of all, it gives a very even, full coverage look. I’ve been obsessed with this foundation ever since trying it three plus years ago.
I like to set my foundation with Nude By Nature powder. This is an Australian brand, it’s very similar to Bare Minerals. I use the foundation powder for extra coverage, or sometimes I’ll just use the powder on its own (without the BB cream underneath). The powder provides a good amount of coverage and is made with minimal ingredients.
To finish off my skin, I like to use a dab of bronzing powder. I’m currently using the one by Australis, which is an entirely vegan and cruelty-free brand. I’m loving the amount of vegan drugstore brands in Australia and New Zealand! I’ll use my super old Sonia Kashuk kabuki brush for my face powder and bronzing powder.
Minimalist Travel Makeup Essentials
I try to keep my skin as the highlight of my makeup. From there, I’ll accentuate my brows with a little kit from Australis, which comes with a little brow gel, a brow powder, and some highlight powder. This kit is super handy! I normally just use the dark brown gel to fill in my brows, but if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll pop on some highlighter underneath the brow bone to make my brows pop.
I finish off the whole look with a few swipes of mascara. My favorite mascara is Better Than Sex by Too Faced, but I’m currently using Pacifica Stellar Gaze to try something a bit more natural (and the Pacifica is a bit easier on the wallet). Both mascaras are fabulous and make my lashes pop.
That is my whole minimalist travel makeup routine. I like to keep it simple and easy, because while traveling I don’t want to be spending too much time getting ready – I want to be out adventuring! This simple makeup routine ensures that I’ll be spending more mornings adventuring around New Zealand than standing in front of a mirror.
