When I arrived in Australia on September 9, 2016, I had no idea what was in store for me. Australia is the most vegan-friendly country I’ve visited to date. Fast food places have vegan options here. I was in heaven. Enter Doughnut Time.
Doughnut Time: Australia’s Vegan Heaven
I discovered Doughnut Time via the internet. Soon, I found the very first Doughnut Time I’d visit – the one on Degraves Street in Melbourne.
Doughnut Time is a magical place filled with endless trays of beautiful and richly flavored doughnuts. One of these babies will fill you up and give you a sugar high that will last all day.
As with all things in Australia, these doughnuts don’t come cheap. They range in price, anywhere from $6 to $8. I can tell you, it’s worth every cent.
I made it my mission to try every type of doughnut from this magical store. Once my mission was complete, they added new flavors, so I completed my mission twice. On average, I throw down one doughnut per month. I try to stay moderately healthy, but since coming to Australia, I’ve somehow managed to acquire a weakness for these sugary glazed doughnuts topped with sweet and salty confections.
My favorite so far would have to be a tie between the red velvet, Perez Hilton (pictured above) and the Chai Curious doughnut which is pictured above (on the bottom of the tray). I did not take a photo of that Chai one individually – I ate it pretty quickly… it had been a hard day.
Doughnut Time is located throughout Australia – I’ve eaten these beautiful creations at multiple locations in Melbourne and Sydney. They also have locations in Brisbane and the Gold Coast – see their website for more info.
Let me know in the comments which one you’d eat first 🙂
